Four sessions offered on spirituality

Limmud Vancouver will be operating on a higher level this year with a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth. Wherever you are in your Jewish spiritual journey, Limmud will take you one step further.

The first session on spirituality begins at 9:25 with a presentation on living more consciously, creatively and compassionately. Annie Klein, a Reiki Master, Soul Memory Discovery practitioner and artist, will offer concepts, tools and experiential exercises to bring meaning and dignity to our older years, based on on Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi’s groundbreaking book, “From Ageing to Sageing.”

Marlon Danilewitz, the primary investigator on multiple clinical trials involving yoga and meditation interventions, a certified yoga instructor and a mindfulness meditation teacher, presents at 10:45 a.m. on understanding the connections between Judaism, meditation and yoga. Come prepared for a work-out. The workshop will incorporate basic exercises in mindfulness meditation, namely: hatha yoga, awareness of breath meditation and mindful Jewish-prayer.

After lunch, limmudniks at 2:15 pm will have a difficult decision to make:

Jeffrey Balin, a JewBu (Jewish Buddhist) who returned to Judaism after 13 years, is presenting on the allure of Eastern religion and how the Torah approached the topic and promises a first-hand account of the struggles and temptations.

Hanna Tiferet

Hanna Tiferet

Hanna Tiferet, who has been planting the seeds of Jewish Renewal since the late 1960′s through new music, liturgical innovation and attunement to Mother Earth and the Divine Feminine, will present on mediation and the Midrashic process.
